Credit monitoring service has been helpful

I await the 4th of the month eagerly holding my breath until the moment …my updated credit scores are available for my viewing.

I have a service I subscribed to a year or so ago that gives me all three of my credit reports and scores. Tomorrow I will log in and update my scores and see what changes have been made in the past 30 days.

Since having the service - which is called Identity Monitor by Citi, I have been able to spot trouble areas, see areas that need corrected, and contact credit issuers easier. Having the service gives me incentive to work on my credit and be more credit aware then ever.

After some bad decisions and a bad husband ….my credit was shot. My score around 430 .. it was pretty shameful. I won’t dwell on what I am today but I was approved for a Walmart Credit Card last month and am I am no longer ashamed of my score. Although I still get rejected at the bank for overdraft protection ..

I just wanted to tell anyone considering using a credit or identity monitoring service it is well worth a look into. Not just to protect your identity from misuse and inform you of activity - but to keep you focused on your credit, how you use it and how lifestyle influences your scores. The Citi service has a credit analyzer that gives you advice on what areas could improve easiest and what your scores will do in “what if” scenarios.

Good scores can save you thousands in interest rates and help you gain credit stability for when you need it. I’m more credit aware then ever - and glad for it. Well worth the $12.95 a month. I don’t endorse this service over any other - but it has been very reliable for me, so I haven’t tried any others.
