Washington Your Fired

wyf_cover_large I received an announcement email about a new documentary film that has just been released. I have watched other films by the same writers and own them in my library. I hope this one reaches more people then the last - things need to change. Here is a copy of that email describing the new film.

Dear Fellow Citizen,

My name is William Lewis. I make documentary films about government corruption and fraud. Hopefully, you’ve seen one or two - Beyond Treason or perhaps 911 In Plane Site.

I am speaking to you today because I have worked very diligently over the past two year to put together a film that would accomplish three things: (1) Expose some of the worst terror related spy bills ever passed by the U.S. Congress, (2) Educate people on how to take action to strike down these bad laws, and (3) Motivate people (like you and me) to run for political office. Add them all up and you end up with a film that educates, stimulates, and motivates… yeah, I know… bla bla bla… but I’ve seen it work.

I traveled the west coast and the east coast to talk to real Americans about real problems with our government… and guess what? No one said healthcare, or abortion, or gas prices were at the top of their crisis list.  The number one and number two choices were (1) getting out of Iraq, and (2) restoring liberties lost under the current administration.  FINALLY… The citizens of this country are beginning to wake up and realize what has taken place right under their noses for the past 7 years.  Now is the time to strike.

“Washington, You’re Fired” delivers an alarming message that the NSA is targeting peace groups and activists for surveillance at the direct orders of the President of the United States. Even more alarming is the mounting evidence that AT&T and Verizon assisted the Bush Administration in data-mining the daily communications of EVERY person in the United States – seven months BEFORE the September 11 terrorist attacks had even occurred.

Yep… I know what you’re thinking. If the Bush administration was already data-mining every phone call and email in the U.S. seven months prior to the 9/11 attacks, then why didn’t those same methods prevent those attacks?

From the National ID card controversy and the loss of Habeas Corpus, to the atrocities committed in the wake of hurricane Katrina – one thing is made perfectly clear in the film… We need immediate political change in Washington, D.C. or the liberties enjoyed by the people of this country will continue to quickly disappear – possibly forever…

Please, take the time to stop by the website and look at the trailer. If you think you can help, you’re right. You wouldn’t have asked to receive these emails if you weren’t pro-active… so I’m asking you now to get involved now. Help support our mission to spread this critical information about taking back OUR government. The purchase of our documentaries helps to accomplish this. You showing those DVDs to other people helps us accomplish this. Even talking about this in Internet chatrooms and blogs helps us to accomplish our mission.

I thank you for you time, effort and energy! Now… let’s educate some people.

Sincerely,
William Lewis

Top 6 Internet Software - Necessity List for New Computers

The choices in software today can be overwhelming.  I have been actively testing and trying different software applications since the dawn of the public Internet in the early 90s and here is a starting point to make your life easier. I just got a new computer and decided to write this post on my top MUST have software programs when setting up a new computer. So here is my list. Click on any of the software logo’s to visit the software site.

firefox

  1. One of the first things I do to a new computer is download Firefox for Internet browsing and set it  as my default browser.  I have tried most of the browsers available and have come to trust and use Firefox.  The stability of the browser, security features, ease of use, available plug-ins, and speed have put this software program at the top of my list.  There is very little learning curve involved the switchover to Firefox if you are using Internet Explorer.  When you install the program and will even help you import your bookmarks. Firefox is 100% free.

2. The next important item on my software need list is an e-mail client.  If gmaillogoyou do not have an e-mail   account and are setting up your first e-mail account, I recommend Gmail.  Gmail loads quicker than Yahoo Mail and offers free POP access. POP is the technology that allows you to download your e-mail into a separate software program.  Because I use several e-mail addresses I depend on a software program to help me manage all of my mail. I used to use Outlook but became increasingly frustrated with losing my saved mail every time Microsoft office needed repaired, reinstalled, or thunderbird_logoupgraded.  I never could seemed to move my mail folders around successfully.  I finally found a  software program that was small undependable, had the ability to filter incoming mail, and even a built-in calendar just like Outlook.  I now use Thunderbird and it works like a charm.  If you use several computers as I do, the portable version of Thunderbird can be used from a USB, so that you can have your mail and contacts on any computer at any time. Both versions of Thunderbird are free.

avg3.  For anti-virus needs I have had really good luck with AVG free edition. On this one I must admit I have not tried many other available antivirus programs — because as long as its working why fix it?  I have been using AVG free on all of my computers for approximately 6 years without any problems.  I do recall buying a computer many years ago that had Norton antivirus installed and remember running into many problems with software update and installing new programs because they collided with the Norton and made all sorts of messes.

 clipmagic

4. One program I couldn’t live without is my clipboard software program.  ClipMagic has been my little  buddy for years. ClipMagic is now freeware and has only gotten better. What the program does is extends the world of copy by saving everything you copy and allow to you to manage those tidbits of information for quick retrieval later. Ever copy an email address or website address only to forget where you got it from or need it again later and have to type it out again? This solves that and many other information handling problems. I use it for to do lists and store contact information. It is extremely easy to use right out from the start and flexible enough to handle advanced processes. And free …!

RoboForm: Learn more...5. Then before I start surfing and using the Internet I have to have my Roboform.  I purchased through a form back when it was the only secure password keeper and form filler available.  I’ve been using it for at least six years maybe longer.  It has been the most trouble-free, time-saving, life-saving piece of software I’ve ever used.  It works exactly how it should all the time, every time.  In case you are asking what does it do? Roboform will save your passwords, fill out forms at the click of a button, manage multiple online identities, such as business and personal, and more.  One of the most helpful features of the program for me has been the ability to move my password collections easily from one computer to another.  They now offer a portable version as well.  You can also password protect your account so no one else using the computer can access websites using your passwords.  This makes it much easier to use and manage than the built-in password saving features the browsers offer.  This program is pure gold. There is a free and a $29 PRO version. I can’t tell you much about the free because I have been a PRO user for 7 years.

 vlc_playsitall

6. Last but not least when ever I set up a new computer I download the latest copy of VLC media player. This free little  gem will play any and all of your media. No codecs, no errors, no problems. Install and use. It has been my hassle free media player for years. I use it for music, video and movies.I have been able to play any and all kinds of video with VLC - from mp4 to ogg and from avi, wmv to DVD’s & it can even play Flash files (.FLV).  Just straight out of the box clean working media solution.

Now I am ready to safely surf the Internet, use e-mail, enjoy multi media and store saved information.  It takes less than 30 minutes to download and install the above programs and you will be trouble-free for a long time to come.  All of these programs have automatic updates when needed, are very secure, dependable, and trouble-free.  All have been around for a good while and earned my trust and highest recommendations.

Each one of these programs are simple to use for the novice, yet powerful enough and feature rich for the experienced computer user to enjoy.

Easy Links For Your Reference:

  1. Firefox Browser = $0
  2. Gmail & Thunderbird for eMail = $0
  3. AVG Anti-Virus = $0
  4. ClipMagic clipboard and information manager = $0
  5. RoboForm form filler and password keeper = $0/free user - $29/PRO
  6. VLC Media Player for all your media needs = $0

Moving into a new computer — an evil necessity

emachineI’ve spent most of the day today preparing to move into a new work computer. Here is the plan.  My work computer is a desktop unit,  and has been faithful and reliable for the past four years.  I purchased a laptop two years ago, and transferred most of my work files to the new machine.  Four months later the hard drive died and I lost a lot of data.  So I moved back into the desktop and kept the laptop as a backup/portable unit for multimedia, imaging, and other lesser tasks.  After the new hard drive was installed, and I have used it reliably for 16 months as a backup, I am confident enough in the machine to designate it as the new workstation.  It also helps that I just ordered a new laptop for a portable unit.

toshiba

My older laptop is a Toshiba satellite Pro 6100 and I love almost everything about it except that it does not have a built-in mouse in the tiny speakers sound really tacky. It’s a very heavy machine weighing in around 8 pounds, with a massive 17 inch screen, making it less than desirable to lug around and then deal with the extra accessories and cords that have to be plugged in such is the mouse, camera, speakers, and a microphone.

Back to the plan: I have been sorting, organizing, and moving data from the desktop to the laptop today and was amazed at just how much stuff gets filed and forgotten.I recommend that everyone sit down and clean out the computer like they were moving out of it at least once a year.  I have let mine go longer than I should and have found all sorts of unfinished projects, forgotten ideas, and even products that I paid for, unused and waiting to be found.

acer_extensa_4620_notebook_1 So I kept these things in mind when I ordered the new unit.  I chose one of the new Acer’s.  Here is why.  First and foremost at a built-in camera, mouse, and microphone.  So I should be able to open this machine up and use it without any accessories or things to plug in/lug around with me. I also chose a unit with a small 14 inch screen that weighs under 5 pounds.  I’d never thought of any of these things when I ordered my last laptop — so it has been a learning experience.  My girlfriend has a Dell latitude, so I got first-hand experience on some of the differences between the different models.

So I have decided to do something with all this stuff I have been unwilling to part with for years - I’m going to blog it!  I have huge collection of self-help/empowerment, business and Internet marketing materials on my computer to sort out.  None of it is doing me any good to sitting there — so as I clean it out I will store in categories on my blogs.

The next step for me is to figure out how to synchronize my e-mail applications, move my favorite software programs, and an easy way to store downloadable files in my blog posts.  I use Word press if anyone has any suggestions.

Back to work I go.  I hope to retire the desktop by Saturday.  I’m going to load some educational games, hook up the big speakers, and use the desktop as a multimedia center for the family.  My son is so excited that he is going to get to play on mommies computer without getting in trouble for it!

until next time …

Making Money Online … Simply Complicated

If you know me, then you know I have been making money on the Internet for over a decade.  If you do not know me personally, then let me tell you …I’ve spent a lot of money and time learning, trying and testing many different business concepts over the years.  Changes in technology and in the marketplace put an end to many things that worked five years ago, but open up a world of new opportunities for those who are willing to look for them. It’s an ever changing market and can become a non-stop roller coaster ride that can be quite expensive when out of control.

What I see happen most is —> good people try TO HARD, lose to much money to quickly and give up before they have had a chance to regain the money invested. Most money is lost to info-products and get rich quick how to guides.

I do not believe that there is ONE guide or manual out there that can tell YOU how to make money online.  The key word in that sentence is YOU.  That is because what works for Joe may not work for Bill.  And what works for Bill will not work for Susie etc. This is a great thing — it means that there are literally hundreds of ways to make money online.  But it also means that you have to put a good deal of effort into finding a way that works for you.  You cannot buy into the latest “hot” info product that is ready to guarantee your great success and expect to follow some secret recipe and achieve the promised results.  Yes, it does happen.  Most often it happens when the consumer buying the how-to guide has mentally conditioned themselves to become the success story and all they needed was a self-confidence and appoint the right direction to get them started.

But I think this means for the rest of the Internet income opportunity seekers is that you must quickly step away from the PayPal buy it now button.  If you have purchased more than three information products online, chances are the next one will not be your ticket to fame either. There are some wonderful paid products out there, but by understanding your needs, attitude, skills, and where you should fit in,  you can save hundreds of dollars and hours down the road.

Understanding your self and the how you can best earn an income utilizing the global information highway is not an easy process if you are just starting out.  But there are certain ways of earning income online that are much easier than others and I hope to share several of these concepts with others as time permits.

For now I am going to create a new page on this website called Online Income.  Although this page will be far from complete when considering all the businesses that are out there that do work, this page will be home to some of the easier more successful products or services I have worked with and endorse.

Thank you for reading my post, I will talk in depth about each of the services that get listed on that page soon.  I am also looking for 2 or 3 volunteers that would like to try any of the services listed with my personal mentorship.  I will personally hold your hand and help you get started earning income at no extra costs. I need the training experience and good reference you can give me after you start making money!

Until next time … let destiny be your guide.
